We are looking for a deeply technical, hands-on Lead Data & Analytics Architect to drive modernization of data architecture and reporting. This role combines strategic thinking (architecture, standards, and roadmap) with strong execution as an individual contributor.Key Responsibilities:
Immediate Focus (3–6 months): Actively convert a high volume of SSRS reports from T-SQL stored procedure datasets to an SSAS Tabular semantic model using DAX. Own a subset of reports end-to-end (redesign datasets, migrate logic, optimize reports, parameters, subscriptions, and layouts) while helping build the supporting Snowflake data warehouse and semantic layer.
Ongoing & Longer-Term: Define reporting patterns, standards, and architecture. Evolve the data warehouse and semantic models for performance and maintainability. Operate with a DevOps mindset (source control, CI/CD, documentation). Champion AI-first development practices to significantly boost productivity (targeting step-change gains) while maintaining quality and governance. Mentor teammates through pairing, reviews, and reusable assets.
Required Skills:
Advanced expertise in SSRS report development and refactoring
Strong hands-on experience with SSAS Tabular models and DAX (writing & tuning)
Excellent communication skills to translate business needs into technical solutions
Preferred Skills:
Experience with Snowflake or other cloud data warehouses
Background in dimensional modeling (Kimball, star schemas)
Familiarity with Azure SQL, data pipelines/ELT, automated testing, and modern development practices (SQL Projects, VS Code, GitHub Actions)
This is a contractor role emphasizing deep technical delivery, modernization, and raising the team’s engineering capabilities through modern practices and AI tooling.
