Lead Developer / AI Projects (live anywhere)
Lead Developer | Remote
We are partnering with a fast-moving, well-funded team building an AI-powered product from the ground up. They are hiring a hands-on Lead Developer to shape the architecture, write core code, and set the technical foundation for long-term scale.
You will design, build, review, and ship. Expect to spend the majority of your time in the backend development while guiding overall technical direction.
What You’ll Do
• Architect and build a cloud greenfield platform end-to-end
• Define application structure, APIs, data models, and integrations
• Lead backend development while contributing to the frontend as needed
• Establish engineering standards, patterns, and best practices
• Design scalable systems that support AI workflows and model integrations
• Develop services that connect to large language models and other inference pipelines
• Build core product features, workflows, and internal tooling
• Partner with product and AI specialists on roadmap and delivery
• Own cloud infrastructure, CI CD pipelines, and environment configuration
• Implement monitoring, logging, and security controls for sensitive data
• Mentor engineers and conduct thoughtful code reviews
What They’re Looking For
• 6+ years of full-stack engineering experience with a focus being backend development (front end can be light)
• Strong experience in Python or Go or Node.js or similar
• Experience owning a cloud native backend platform.
• Experience designing distributed systems with async processing, queues, or event-driven architecture. Broad ownership of a system/platform across architecture, infrastructure, and deployment.
• Solid understanding of modern frontend frameworks
• Cloud experience
• Strong API and database design experience
• Comfort with Docker and CI CD pipelines
• Ability to operate independently in a lean environment
