Purchasing Specialist (mechanical piping)
Join a leading regional construction services firm as a vital strategic partner, bridging external vendors and internal Project Executives. You will own project-level buyout strategies, supplier negotiations, and material tracking across commercial mechanical, piping, and climate control systems.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with Preconstruction and Operations teams to evaluate vendor proposals, lead times, drawings, and specs for optimal buyout recommendations.
Execute end-to-end procurement for commercial mechanical piping.
Manage purchase orders, subcontract agreements, submittal reviews, and detailed material tracking schedules.
Drive cost-saving initiatives by identifying bundling opportunities, rebate models, and material alternatives to hedge against market escalation.
Leverage advanced data models (Excel/Smartsheet) to track spend analytics and refine procurement workflows/SOPs.
Cultivate strong supplier networks while actively advising Project Managers, who maintain final award authority.
Qualifications
2+ years of project-based/job-cost procurement experience for mechanical piping.
Strong working knowledge of MEP construction drawings, submittals, and Bills of Materials (BOM).
Mastery of Excel (advanced formulas, data modeling, pivot tables).
Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and collaborative skills to guide internal leadership and external vendors effectively.
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, or Business Administration from a recognized university.
